7TH ANNUAL GIRLS EDUCATION CONFERENCE

This annual conference, presented in partnership with International House at the University of Chicago, will bring together leaders from across the U.S., and the world, to raise awareness and engage in dialogue around the economic importance of investing in girls’ education. 

 

Around the world, girls face unique challenges in accessing and influencing education, yet their potential to lead change is undeniable. This year’s theme invites us to celebrate and elevate the voices of young girls who are shaping the future of learning. Together, we will explore stories of girls as educational change-makers, discuss ways to nurture their leadership skills, and highlight the critical role girls play as leaders in communities around the world. The theme for this year’s conference is "Voices and Visions: Girls Leading the Future of Education"

 

By empowering girls with the tools, opportunities, and support they need, we not only enrich their individual lives but also transform entire societies. When girls are given a platform to participate in decision-making and contribute their ideas, classrooms become more inclusive, educational outcomes improve, and communities benefit from innovative solutions. It is essential to break down barriers—whether cultural, economic, or systemic—that hinder girls’ participation, so every girl can realize her right to learn, lead, and inspire others through their voices and visions. Let us commit to fostering environments where girls’ leadership is recognized, celebrated, and amplified at every level.

 

The 7th Annual Girls Education Conference, with unlimited global capacity, is designed for educators, investors, innovators and inventors or anyone interested in education. The dynamic program will feature leading educational thought leaders and invite participants to think about their role in shaping the future of education for girls.

 

This conference is one way International House at the University of Chicago partners with the African Community Fund for Education Group, a non-profit founded by Stanley Ndambakuwa, an Obama Scholar at the Obama Foundation. The African Community Fund for Education focuses on facilitating education and leadership programs for disadvantaged girls in South Africa and Zimbabwe. In 2015, they launched a global campaign to create awareness and responsibility for the inclusive and sustainable education of girls. 

 

The mission of International House is to enable students and scholars from around the world to live and learn together in a diverse community that builds life-long qualities of leadership, respect, and friendship. International House also serves as a vibrant cultural center.
