Dr. Chomi Makina is the current Group Chief Executive Officer of Moonlight Holdings which has subsidiaries which include Moonlight Funeral Assurance, Moonlight Funeral Services, Mashfords Funeral Assurance and Services, J Davies Manufacturing, J Davies Funeral Parlour, Endowment Provident Associates and Moonlight Provident Associates. Moonlight Holdings is one of the biggest funeral assurance companies in Zimbabwe. He worked as President of Zimbabwe Association of Funeral Assurers (ZAFA) from 2000 – 2013, and is currently the President of the Funeral Services Association of Zimbabwe (FUSA) since 2013. He served as the President of the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe from 2012 to 2014 (IIZ President) and is a Board Member of the International Association of Thanatologists (FIAT-IFTA) since 2009. Dr. Makina is also the International Council of Direction Member (ICD) for FIAT-IFTA and Zimbabwe since 2009. He is also the current Chairperson of the Philanthropic Institute of Zimbabwe since 2013. Dr. Makina is the current Board Member of the Insurance and Pensions Housing Fund since 2010. He also served as the Enactus Universities Judge – 2013 and Fellow at the Institute of Directors (IOD).

Dr Makina’s vision is to see the next generation stand on our shoulders and be able to carry the work we have started to greater heights.  Dr Makina’s inspiration comes from a bible verse in Proverbs 13:22(a) which says “A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children” hence encourages all of us to think generationally. Dr Makina’s passion is to see the poor and the marginalized rose from the dust and to take places of honor in society.

Dr Tarisai Mutangi holds an LLD and LLM from the University of Pretoria, and Legislative Drafting qualifications from the same institution. He holds primary legal qualifications in the form of an LLBs Degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is duly registered and practices law in Harare, Zimbabwe where he is the Managing Partner of Donsa – Nkomo & Mutangi Legal Practice, a firm of legal practitioners based in Harare.

Dr Mutangi teaches law at Midlands State University and University of Zimbabwe. He is also Associate Researcher with the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. He has published widely primarily in the areas of domestic implementation of international law standards as well as on international judicial and quasi-judicial institutions such as the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the SADC Tribunal and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. He conducts litigation before these international institutions where he is also admitted as counsel.

Dr Mutangi also researches and undertakes consulting work with local and international organisations primarily in the governance sector. He has worked with the Government of Zimbabwe and the Government of South Africa where he sits on the Advisory Committee to the South African Law Reform Commission dealing with revision of national legislation to conform to the provisions of the constitution (‘alignment of legislation’).       


Mr. Patson Malisa

Mr. Patson Malisa is the President of the Organisation of African Youth (OAYouth Continental Executive Committee). Mr. Malisa is also the Chairman of the International Youth Council, and Board Associate for the United Nations Association of South Africa (UN-ASA; Sustainable Development Goals & Policy). He is also the Country Coordinator for the Network of African Youths for Development in South Africa Mr. Malisa also participated at the United Nations Committee Member for the April 2015 Stakeholder Steering Committee for the post-2015 development agenda negotiations at the United Nations Headquarters. He also worked as Program Coordinator for the Regent University from 2012 – 2013, and as a Research and Administrative Consultant for Brandsense in 2009.


Patson Malisa is a Youth Advocate, Thought Leader, Executive and Facilitator. He has served in national and continental youth platforms since the age of 18, advocating the convening of government and civil society to the dialogue forum for the advancing of policy for the Upliftment of youth. He has experience as Chairman for South Africa at the Organization of African Youth, the Country Coordinator for Network of African Youth for Development as well as the Chairman for South Africa at the International Youth Council.  He has also served as Organizing Secretary, Secretary for Information and Publicity at the Organization of African Youth.


Patson was a Youth Delegate for South Africa at the World Conference on Youth for 2014. He has also chaired the committee of rapporteurs at the 2014 High Level Youth Policy Dialogue on Sustainable Development Goals hosted at the United Nations Plaza in Nairobi, Kenya. The Outcome Document of this conference has been a well celebrated lobbying tool amongst youth in the continent towards the advocating of Youth mainstreaming in the Post-2015 Development Agenda. Most recently, he has served in the steering committee for the Post-2015 Development Agenda Stakeholder negotiations which took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in April 2015.  He was also the Chair of Rapporteurs at the 2015 Parliament and Youth Summit on SDGs hosted by the Parliament of South Africa.


In April 2015, Patson Chaired a Commission of youth leaders for Social Cohesion that convened to address the issues of both xenophobic and racial tensions that were prevalent in South Africa at the time. The aim of the commission was to create a mechanism which would bring together the progressive views which the majority of South Africans have with regards to Social Cohesion. With these views, they would therefore draft a tool to be used for the implementation of long standing and effective programs that will address the key areas of which need urgent intervention, and leadership. The Social Cohesion Charter was born from this process, and has been embraced by several platforms in the country and beyond.


Ms. Pauline Paradza

Pauline is CEO of SouthCity Capital Group, an Investment Company focused on Infrastructure, Financial Services, and Distribution. SouthCity’s financial services business has strong corporate finance, and infrastructure finance capability and capacity. Pauline is a distribution specialist, retailer, and technologist with particular responsibilities in the Distribution sector, which includes Global Pact Distribution, Impact Beauty Stores and Mestoglo.


She began her career with the W-Store Group, has held several senior positions within several companies. She is currently managing the Specialty Retail Distribution Business and has been involved in building strategy for new markets and sourcing products for big retail chains in Africa. Through developing and utilising innovative retail and distribution technology solutions which generate new sales channels, facilitate market penetration and generate competitive advantage in our chosen sectors has been her key success.


Pauline was a business analyst and risk assessor for a number of key clients, her responsibilities included quickly understanding the business issues and data challenges of client's organization and industry. She would review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes, controls and recommendations related to proposed solution and in turn project management all implementations.

Ms. Nomhle Mujakachi

 Nomhle Mujakachi is the Managing Director of Shield Technologies Africa, an ICT solutions and services company that focuses on end-to-end Enterprise Solutions; Business Process Management; Business Process Automation; ICT Infrastructure and Communications Solutions. Ms. Mujakachi is an emerging markets business technology strategist with 18 years of IT industry experience servicing companies in multiple key industry verticals such as mining, financial services, public sector, retail, aviation and more. Ms. Mujakachi has worked for four IT multinational corporations covering multiple geographies such as Europe, Middle East and Africa. Nomhle harnesses her diverse ICT industry experience in the Energy sector, addressing the energy challenge in the Southern African Power Pool market. Nomhle consults for a number of Renewable Energy Projects in Southern Africa and Latin America; most notably RETPark and Sunrays Project, both are utility scale Photovoltaic Solar Power projects. Nomhle is a Non-Executive Director of Hydro Utilities, a Civil Engineering Consulting Firm. She is the founder of The Nomhle Foundation which supports STEM and Cancer Awareness initiatives.


Nomhle is an Executive Director at EMC Continental Africa an Independent Power Producer and recently held a senior management role for two years and two months at Software AG responsible for Partner/Channel management in South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa. Prior to that, she led Channel Marketing at Cisco Systems Inc. Before joining Cisco Systems Inc., Nomhle held numerous roles at SAP AG in the EMEA region. At the start of her career, Nomhle took up Business Development and General Management roles at E-World Holdings (in partnership with Q Data Dynamique, now known as Business Connexion). Nomhle holds a Bachelor in Business Administration Degree and an Association of Computer Professionals Diploma in Management Information Systems. Nomhle completed the first year of an MBL (Master Degree in Business Leadership), from the University of South Africa, in 2013 then switched her MBL for an MSc in Energy Management and Sustainability, for which she is currently undertaking her Research Paper. Nomhle is a certified Project Manager, CRM Consultant, Business Process Analysis and Design Expert. Nomhle completed the Bloomberg Executive Training in Business/Financial and Data Journalism.

Mr. Ken Chikwanha

Ken is a professionally qualified ICT governance and risk management practitioner with more than 18 years of managerial experience in the provision of ICT Risk, Governance and Security services.  He has achieved accomplishments in areas relating to the building of IT Governance practices and the design and implementation of ICT and business process controls including information security and privacy.


His professional background is with all four of the Big Four Audit firms with international exposure ranging from Southern Africa to the United States and the Caribbean.  He currently works with the largest Banking Group in Africa as a Security and Technology Risk Officer and is a regular speaker at local and international industry Conferences.


Ken holds internationally recognized qualifications in information systems governance and audit, information systems security, information architecture and project management and currently sits on the Board of ISACA (South Africa) (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) as its President.  He has also been nominated to the Chapter Support Committee with ISACA International as the Europe/Africa representative.  He also consults with the Auditor General of South Africa on the Bid Evaluation Committee (STRAP).

Lebogang in the inaugural chair of the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute Alumni Forum. The organisation partnered with the African Union Youth Clubs to be able to implement practical programs towards Agenda 2063. She is seasoned manager within the management consulting division of KPMG. She has advised both the public sector and Fortune 500 companies in South Africa and Dubai. She has held previous management consulting positions within Accenture and Deloitte.

Lebogang holds a Master of International Business from Monash University, Australia. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies with the Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria.  She has studied Africa Gender Studies, Africa Thought Leadership as well as Africa and International Trade through the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute. She is the first recipient for the Business Women Association of South Africa Bursary.

Her true passion lies in serving her continent. She is a committed Pan African Speaker that has committed to travelling the continent and the world engaging different people from different walks of life on African issues. She has addressed issues ranging from increasing Africa intra-trade, Climate Change and Sustainable energy solutions in Africa, African Leadership, Human Rights and Youth, Youth Civic engagement to African Renaissance within the workplace. Notably, Lebogang has addressed youth from over 25 different African countries including the African diaspora at the Pan African Parliament. She was invited to talk in Tanzania. She was selected to attend the Agenda 2063 Youth Summit at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

Ms. Gugu Mthembu

Gugu Mthembu is a Marketing and ICT professional who holds a BCom Marketing degree from the University of South Africa, a National Diploma in IT with specialization in Software Development and Information Systems. She has completed various postgraduate executive leadership courses from the Gordon Institute of Business Science. Gugu is a member of the Marketing Association of Southern Africa, having received her Chartered Marketer certification in 2013.  She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Strategy with Edinburgh Business School.

Gugu has a wealth of experience in the technology and telecommunications industry. Her expertise lies in business analysis, market analysis, big data analytics, customer insights, segmentation and value proposition development, product commercialization, brand development and, marketing and corporate communications for both consumer and business to business markets. She has worked for both IT startups and some of the largest African Telecommunications institutions such as MTN and Vodafone. With a successful career of over 15 years in ICT Gugu has recently decided to open her own consulting firm to focus on assisting SMMEs with marketing strategies in order to grow and develop their businesses. Gugu also runs a small enterprise which commercialises her passions in style and interior design.

In 2012, Gugu was a finalist in the ICT category of the inaugural Rising Star Awards run by the Human Capital Institute. Gugu served as an ex officio board member for eTopUp, a subsidiary of MTN in Swaziland. 

Gugu has added significant value in most organisations she has worked for, evident in the awards that the various companies won under her leadership including “The Most Innovative Product” award at Africacom 2013 and a Sunday Times Top Brand Awards Grand Prix, B2B in 2015.
